Our Beginnings
New Scotland Mental Health Solutions (NSMHS) was founded in 2024 with a simple conviction:
The military and Veteran community deserves mental health care built around their experiences, their timelines, and their needs.
Co-founders Mike Moir, Managing Director, and Dr. Ahmed Saleh, Psychiatrist and Clinical Director, brought together complementary strengths — sound, ethical business operations on one side, and years of psychiatric experience caring for Veterans and military members on the other. From the start, the goal was the same: a practice where getting help is straightforward, timely, and centred on the patient.In 2025, Alexa El-Hawary joined the team, and today she is often the first voice patients hear — guiding each person from initial contact to the clinician who best fits their needs.
What began as a shared vision has grown into a multidisciplinary practice serving Veterans, military members, and RCMP across the Atlantic Provinces. Every clinician on our team works from an understanding of what service asks of people — and what it can leave behind. Our team and services have expanded, but our original mission remains at the heart of everything we do: care that honours service, and puts the person first.
